Your iPod has been your constant companion for years already. But at present, your iPod seemed to have fallen ill and would not work just right. You think it may be something with the iPod docks and cables but you are no expert when it comes to things like this.
Is it now time to purchase a new iPod?
Well, not quite. You see, when there is something ailing, there is a caregiver or a doctor. And for the iPod, there are already doctors that do their stuff to bring back the vigor that these portable media players have got. And Demetrios Leontaris is one of these iPod miracle workers and he has already got quite a number of patients which he had successfully restored back to health. Although there are some which simply would not respond and could not be resuscitated.
Interestingly, Leontaris still has got a photograph of one of those quite unsuccessful iPod operations. The patient was an iPod Nano and it was quite damaged because it fell from the car. According to the iPod doctor, the iPod Nano still was playing its media files however the casing was badly damaged that if attempted to repair it, the device would have broken and it would not play – at all.
Leontaris is not the only iPod doctor in town. There are already quite a few number of these new professionals popping up on the streets but also online. You can use your favorite search engine and find a good iPod doctor. Chances are, you would be having quite a number of choices on whom to call for help.
You see, these iPod doctors came into being as part of the cottage industry which actually works on keeping the iPod gadgets including iPod Mini Accessories healthy and full of spunk after getting sick. But these doctors are saying that such gadgets do take a turn for the worse mostly by mistreatment and not usually because of accidents.
iPodmods.com is one website where you can find information on the iPod doctor Aaron Vronko. And upon speaking with Vronko, he was amused to recall the kinds of fate of iPods that he had seen and had encountered. He says there were some iPods which have been whirling around with the dirty clothes in soapy water in the washing machine. There were also those iPods which have gone through really hard slams when a car door was closed. Another got melted down when it was left much too close to a light bulb that has been on for hours. Vronko also did mention that one of the best that he had seen were those iPods which have become chew toys for those adorable doggies.
According to these iPod doctors, they could stay in business as long as the current trend continues. You see, Apple, the creator of these phenomenal iPods, has got the gadgets under warranty for only a year. However, as part of the clauses of the warranty, they would give the gadget free services, repairs, or replacements if the iPods got damaged if it is quite clear that the cause was not by mistreatment of the player. If the screen is cracked or if it looks like the iPod was dropped, then say goodbye to your warranty. Now if you have kept your iPod safe and secure for a year, which is the period that Apple gives to its iPods, you can extend that coverage for another year but you would have to shell out some cash to do so.
As for the iPod doctors, there is not much that they cannot handle when it comes to healing the ailing iPods. In fact, Leontaris just needs his SUV which he has turned into a workshop on wheels. He drives to his customers’ location and they get a chance to take a look at the iPod doctor’s hand doing wonders on their favorite gadgets.

New Ipod Games

I can’t say for sure when I know I was bitten but I have the date on my receipts (11/15/06). I guess I was late to the iPod party but I’ve not missed a step since I got involved with “Buck,” my iPod.
I’ve got 3 now, one just for movies, and another for music and one for data and I’m negotiating with a contact in China for 5 more.
iPod is the brain child of Steven Jobs, Apple guru and all around genius. More than 22 million ipods have been sold to US adults, which amounts to approximately 11% of the population (according to the non-profit Pew Internet & American Life Project). I became a fan and user and my addiction continues to grow stronger.
Now I spend my days learning about new applications and my nights surfing for clearance sales, closeouts, underground sources for discounts on accessories. For example, last week I found a site that sells what they call an iPod Converter.
This unit allows for unlimited downloads of movies and music and games and software and provides a lifetime membership in their download club. As a full blown movie nut this little handful of technology is gobbling up my free time by the hour.
Talk about addiction, I was rummaging through some magazines in the basement of the library at midnight (don’t ask) and found this underground techie magazine. There was a story about an MP3 converter that took me a few minutes to realize was the iPod converter I heard about last week.
The techie manual indicated this is better than Blockbuster and NetFlicks all rolled into one very user friendly palm-sized unit. I’ll share the link here anyone who is interested can read all about it.
As I continue to learn about all-things-iPod I’ve just discovered about iPod hacks. This reference startled me at first as it is not in my nature to destroy other’s enjoyment in any manner, especially when it comes to something like PCs and iPods.
What I learned is the term hacks when it refers to iPod is another way of saying accessories, except that the modification most likely will void your iPod’s warrantee. In any case the lists I found were nothing less than fascinating.
For instance, according to howstuffworks.com, the range of accessories includes downloadable iPod games and programs that convert DVDs to iPod-friendly video files. There are also programs that convert PDA files your PowerPoint presentations into files that work with your iPod-compatible.
The howstuffworks website also provided a reference to a list of some current applications: “iPod hackers are publishing all sorts of programs that alter the way an iPod works — some of the software is free, and some of it is for purchase. Some currently available hacks let you:
• Make an iPod work with Linux machines and run Linux applications
• Remove volume caps (iPods sold in Europe cap the volume at 100 decibels; uncapped iPods can reach more than 115 decibels.)
• Turn your iPod into a universal remote • Attach an external hard drive to your iPod to increase the storage capacity
• Change your iPod’s font and graphics • Watch movies on your iPod in full-screen mode • Plug your iPod into any computer (even without iTunes) and listen to music from the hard drive
• Transfer photos to iPod without using iTunes
• Replace iTunes all together as the iPod’s main jukebox • Use an iPod with a Windows 98 machine “
While I am fascinated with the expansion this provides I am too cautious and protective of Buck to try anything other than factory sealed products from Apple. I can be patient until they ramp up to the accessory list I peeked at in an underground publication.
The upcoming Apple list is robust and will blow away the hacker’s meager offerings. Meanwhile, I’ll stick to my movie and music downloading which keeps me rather busy and satisfied.
However if you hear any buzz about an auto-pilot for long cross-country drives that’s compatible with a 2006 STS, please pass it on. I might just let Buck give it a try.

An Introduction to Ipod Mini

Ipod Mini was first released on February 20, 2004 and it delighted many. Being a smaller edition of Apple Computer’s Ipod first generation moveable audio player, it’s variety in colors (comes with limited colors, silver, gold, blue, pink, and green) appealed to the broader market. The Ipod Mini could be operated with both Macintosh and Windows PCs.
The iPod mini’s quality was the click wheel, where four buttons were placed above the wheel. To use one of the buttons, a user had to drive the wheel edge inner over one of the labels. The click wheel system is now normally used in the fourth and fifth generation iPods and it is as well been used in the iPod nano. Above the wheel was the monochrome display, which offers the menus or information of the presently selected track. The new generation of ipods normally has a colored screen display.
The battery life of its first generation iPod mini was 8 hours, which led to some quarrel on its small duration. This problem was later solved with the second -generation models that had a battery life of 18 hours. Like the larger iPod, the iPod Mini as well supported a crowd of file formats like MP3, WAV, AIFF and other MP4 features. It maintained its perfect integration with the iTunes Music Store and the files being downloaded there. Software wise, the iPod Mini was as consistent as the innovative iPod units.
Besides if there was something high-quality to be said about this amazing iPod mini, it’s the choice it gave the consumers when getting a digital audio player. The Ipod mini struggled directly with most renowned players like Creative’s Zen Micro and the Digital Networks Rio Carbon. The smaller display was actually one line smaller than the last models, thus warning it’s on-screen track information show to title and artist only, taking the album information off.
As the Ipod family started to grow, the Ipod mini was laid to rest when Apple launched the opening of the iPod nano. The iPod mini did not then exist in the market and stopped its production. Though it looks the iPod Mini only stayed for a while, its sway as the initiate of the click wheel would always be remembered.

Unarguably, IPods are quite expensive but there are some IPods that are sold at a cheap price too. The IPod has become one of the hottest favorites of music lovers who would like to possess one at any price, if they can afford or would like to purchase a cheaper one, if it is available.
For the second category of people, internet offers a lot of opportunities to log in and find the places where cheap IPods are sold. Basically, when more features are added into any new innovative gadget, naturally, the price tends to rise. But some people would be contended with the basic features and hence opt to buy cheap IPods. Those who want newer versions find the older ones obsolete and would only be happy to dispose of them at a low price, whatever they fetch. Such opportunities are good deals for cheap IPod buyers.
Though cheap IPods are among the older generations like the second and third generation surplus of IPods, they provide great quality sounds, basically needed from an IPod. If newer generation IPod with added features is really needed, then there are websites that sell second hand or used IPods which are in good working condition. Such IPods are being disposed by those who simply want to switch over to newer versions of IPods.
These IPods are sold cheap but that does not mean they are compromised on their quality. EBay is one of the places which offers a lot of varieties of cheap IPods. EBay sells cheap IPods at a price fifty five to sixty percent less than their original market price along with a lot of accessories and IPod hook up as well. May be some IPods have a few scratches, that may be one of the reasons why they are sold cheap, but that does not hinder a person from listening to good quality music from the IPod. The buyer can hear to the same music as another who has got an expensive IPod and also save a few dollars.
Cheap IPods are also sold online in all models of Apple’s products like IPod touch, Nano, classic and shuffle. It is a business tactic not to buy an IPod as soon as it is introduced in the market, as this would cost more and the price tends to fall in a month or two when it can be bought at a cheaper price. There are some sites that sell IPods of other discount companies as well as of themselves, for instance, the Amazon. They offer IPods at cheap prices but the buyer has to wait for a considerable time, as the prices may fluctuate and then settle down. Auction sites are also a good bargain but one has to know the intricacies of auctioning to get IPods at real cheap price.
Cheap IPods are possible and available as can be seen because they are seen in every nook and corner of the city. If only the rich can afford, they would not be there. So, it is possible to buy cheap IPods.

Is your iPod a wallflower? Maybe it is time you make it stand out in the crowd. Give it some pieces of flair. Make it unique. You don`t want your iPod to look like everyone else on the block. You`ve got to be able to differentiate your personal style from someone else`s. Give your iPod a personality. All iPods look the same until their owners pretty them up. There are many ways to jazz up your little buddy and they don`t require spending lots of cash either.
You can decorate your iPod using socks. They are fun and practical and are available in a variety of colors including green, purple, blue, orange, pink, and gray. These protect your iPod from scrapes and scuffs that occur in daily life. Keep your iPod in pristine condition and don`t let it look like your watches and rings do after years of use. Change out the colors as the seasons change. Put on a red one for Valentine`s Day & Christmas and a pastel color for Easter. Get a green sock for St. Patrick`s Day and an orange one for Halloween. Or you can have one for each month.
Dress up your iPod like you would dress up your poodle in dog sweaters. The options are endless. You can even decorate the sock with your own sewing addendums, like an embroidered design, your coat of arms, buttons, ribbons, or whatever way your creative juices take you.
Young kids and teens with iPods have been sporting stickers and other adhesives to their iPods to make them cuter and cooler. How cool is an iPod without puffy, stinky stickers? Not very. Kids are looking for ways to make their iPod different from everyone else`s and distinguishable in a crowd. They are able to express their personalities when decorating their iPods. They can put their school mascot sticker on it or a sticker from the clubs they are in at school. Change out stickers on a seasonal basis depending on the holidays. Almost like personalizing their folders for class, they can make their iPod a part of their fashion statement as well.
Colorware can paint your iPod in a range of hues for $64, making it stand out in the crowd. You can also put some tattoos on your iPod. HP`s removable stickers let you temporarily personalize your `Pod. If you bought an HP-branded iPod from certain stores you get a free, preprinted musical-artist Tattoo (with a Gwen Stefani or Maroon 5 design, for example), but the company also sells printable versions in packs of ten for $15. You can download Tattoo designs from HP or create your own, and then print them at home on your ink-jet printer. Each Tattoo should last about one month before the adhesive begins to dissolve (although you can remove them anytime without leaving residual goo).
Get a Podskinz which a more sturdier plastic shell for your pod. PodSkinz are thin, hard-plastic shells that cover and protect your iPod`s front white surface and rear chrome section. Decorations range from solids to prints, flowers and state and national flags. Or get a Graphic cling, for full size iPods, to wrap around your iPod for an added feature. PopTunes are removable stickers in an assortment of prints you can wrap around your iPod mini. PopTunes for the iPod mini are priced $9 each and available in eight great designs such as leopard and heartbeats. PopTunes for the iPod nano and shuffle come in a package of 12 different designs. iPod skins are like removable stickers in popular prints like Doublemint Gum, or Shufflement, and Juicy Fruit, or Juicy Tunes.
Jazz up your iPod with jewelry, stickers or other fun craft items. Put on some beads, feathers, pearls, coral, gemstones, whatever is not glued down. What iPod wouldn`t look great bedazzled? Pull out your craft box and add glitter, confetti, scrapbook stickers, punches, calligraphy, and anything you want to personalize your Ipod in your own way! Your iPod should be a reflection of your individuality and your style. Use your creativity and imagination to dress up your iPod. You will never lose your iPod in the crowd again.

Tips On How To Use your iPod As A Hard Drive

At some point most people have needed to transfer files from one computer to another. Floppy drives are virtually obsolete. Not all computers have a CD burner and unless you use a re-writable CD you can only use it for files one time. So how can you do it? Ever thought of using your iPod? Few people realize the iPod can be used for much more than listening to songs and watching videos. The device can also be used as a hard drive to store every kind of file you will need. Here are a few tips on how to use your iPod as a hard drive.
First, connect your iPod to your computer. Once the iPod has been connected open the iTunes window. Then open the iPod preferences window. In the iPod preferences window you can select Manually manage songs and playlists or Enable disk use. If you would like to use your iPod for disk storage and you would still like for iTunes to automatically update your iPod library then choose Enable disk use. This will allow your iPod to store files and play music.
Once you have set up your iPod to store files you can drag the files you want to store into the iPod window. When you have finished moving the files click the iPod eject button in the lower-right corner of the iTunes window. The iPod screen will show Ok to disconnect when it is safe to unplug it.
You can also use your iPod as a hard drive without using the iTunes window. First connect your iPod to the computer that has the files you would like to store. Then go to My Computer. You will see the iPod listed as an available drive. Double click the drive and copy the files you want to store into the root folder. Alternatively, you can create a separate folder for storing your files to avoid confusing your files with the files the iPod needs to operate. Do not put anything in the folder labeled iPod_Control because that folder contains music and video files and information required for the iPod to read music and video files correctly.
If you are using your iPod without having iTunes running you will need to manually disconnect the iPod from the system. Open My Computer. Browse to the drive that lists your iPod. Select the drive and drag it to the recycle bin. Once the drive has been deleted, you can safely detach your iPod from the computer. Avoid detaching your iPod from the computer with going through these steps first. Doing so can result in corruption of important files.
The iPod shuffle can also be used for storing files. Using a USB flash drive does this. To configure the iPod shuffle to store files, open the iPod preferences window from within iTunes. In the iPod preferences window use the slider to choose how much of the drive you would like to use for storing files and how much you would like to use for storing songs. You can add files in two ways. The first way is to drag and drop the icon for the file you would like to add onto the iPod folder in the iTunes screen. The second way is to navigate to the iPod drive through My Computer and add file. If you have the file open you can save it to the iPod by going to File, Save As. In the location window click on My Computer and select the iPod drive.
The iPod shuffle must be removed in a similar way to a regular iPod. If you are working through the iTunes window click the iPod eject button in the lower-right corner of the window. When the iPod screen shows Ok to disconnect you can safely remove your iPod. You can also remove the iPod shuffle if you are not working in iTunes by deleting the drive icon from the My Computer folder. As with a regular iPod, be careful not to detach the iPod shuffle from computer without first removing it in one of the two ways described above.
Hassle no more with emailing files to yourself in order to access them from another location. As long as you have your iPod and the USB cord or your iPod shuffle, you can access and store all the files you need.

The PDA Substitute – The Apple iPod

You do not need to buy a PDA if you already own an iPod. Simply use your iPod as a PDA. Your iPod can do more than just play music. Your iPod already has the capability of storing such things as your contacts, calendar information, and your notes. Although the iPod is not in the running for PDA of the Year, it can serve as a ready backup for contact and calendar info while you are traveling or if your normal one is broken.
If you have never tried using your iPod as a PDA, you should probably go check out your iPods Extra menu. This Extra menu is where you will find your iPods Clock, Contacts, Calendar, Notes, and of course Games. Besides storing your latest music files, your iPod is able to store phone numbers, addresses, web site URLs, and other important information that you may need, up to 1,000 contacts! If you wish to export this information about your contacts, you can do so via vCard format from Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, Palm Desktop, or any email applications that support the vCard.
To start inputting your contact information into your iPod, go to the Extra menu and choose the Contacts options. If you currently do not have any contacts, your iPod will give you instructions on how to do so. If you are going to import your contacts information, your Windows XP needs to recognize your iPod as hard drive before it can start exporting to your iPod.
Once you connect your iPod to your computer, double-click on My Computer and select your iPod icon. If you are using Outlook 2003 or Outlooks Express with iTunes 6, you can go ahead and automatically synchronize your contacts using iTunes and your iPod. Go to the Edit menu and select the Preferences option. Now select the iPod option and the Contacts button. Now choose Outlook or Outlook Express from the Sync Contacts From on the drop down menu. This is where you can choose if you would like to sync all of your Outlooks contacts or you can go ahead and choose only those you wish to export to your iPod. Click on OK to confirm these choices.
If you would like to export calendar information from Outlook or Outlook Express, you can do so by going through the same steps you did for exporting your contact data. In addition to keeping your contact and calendar data, your iPod is also able to store text data. After you save your text as a text file, save it to a folder of your choosing that is located on your local hard drive. No you are able to drag and drop the text file onto your iPods Notes directory.
However, you cannot do this with .RTF files. If you are using Microsoft Outlook 2003 or Outlook Express 6 or later, as well as iTunes version 6, it will be very easy for you to maintain your iPods data. Simply go to the iTunes File menu and select the Update iPod option. Take note though, if you are using an older version of Outlook, you will have to update your calendar data manually or you will need to use a third-party sync application.
Even though your iPod may never come close to replacing the PDA you normally use, your iPod can serve as a good backup incase you leave your PDA somewhere or if your PDA is broken. Your iPod should be able to help with your day-to-day activities by storing contact information, calendar data, and notes that contain important information.
For people using iPods on their Mac computers, they have the advantage of the iCal function as well as storing their contacts with more relative ease than those using Windows computers.
